X Factor Final

At last we are here; the end is in sight
And the X Factor Final kicks off for us tonight.
We are eased into the show with all the finalists reunited
And it’s clear that our four acts are all nervous and excited.

“What A Feeling” is the song that has been chosen for the start
And every act on the stage was clearly singing from the heart.
It’s been a contentious year for the X Factor, but viewing is still on top
And tonight we see each act go home, before this journey finally stops.

Matt takes us home to Colchester before singing us his notes
And he waved Dido’s White Flag, to hopefully secure our telephone votes.
This chap will be duetting with Rihanna, and he has Stacey Solomon on the streets;
Will Matt become our winning finalist, as his line-up seems so sweet.

Rebecca Ferguson is next up, and she took us home to Liverpool
You could hear the emotion in her voice as she returned to her old school.
Her act takes place on a pedestal, and she is immaculately dressed;
Could Rebecca be our winner, with Coleen Rooney championing her success?

One Direction drove the Bradford crowds wild and that’s all I’ll say about that;
Then they gave us Your Song as their performance, and it was really a very good act.
The judges all seemed complementary and Simon had to pause for the screams.
Could One Direction be the winning act, the first victorious band there has been?

Number four in our line-up, is keen to fill our teen rap void;
It is Cheryl’s protege from Malvern, the dinky Cher Lloyd.
Clap Clap uniquely combined with Missy Elliott is her opening choice;
Will Cher Lloyd be our winner, will you be voting for her voice?

Next on it’s the duets, and this is what we’ve been waiting for;
Matt Cardle took on Rihanna, and who could possibly wish for more.
Next Rebecca and Christina Aguilera, give us ‘Beautiful’ as their tune.
If I had got to sing with either lady, I’d have been simply over the moon.

Robbie Williams returned to the X Factor to sing with One Direction
And Will.I.Am was flown in by Cheryl, as Cher Lloyd’s duet selection.
The finalists have done all they can, and only three of them will go through
So pick up the telephone and get voting, as their futures depend on you!

We have scantily glad Rihanna and Christina perform before the decision is declared;
At this point in the competition, we’ll forgive all the acts for being scared.
Dermot announced that Rebecca, One Direction and Matt Cardle are all safe.
So it’s so long to Cher Lloyd as she just misses her final three place.

X Factor Semi Final Results Show

Here are the results of tonights X Factor Semi Final Selection:
First to be put through, were Simon’s boy band, One Direction.
Cheryl was clearly thrilled that Rebecca was declared a safe act
Though looked slightly despondent, when the third through was Matt.

Cher Lloyd and Mary went head to head for that final coveted place
Both singing their chosen choices, with angst etched upon their face.
It came to the judges decisions; Simon’s vote decided whose time was spent
And after coming so magnificently far, it was Mary Byrne who went!

X Factor Semi Final Live Show Week 8 Poem

If ever on the X Factor, you’d want to sing for your survival
Then tonight would be that moment, as we’re in the semi final.
Just five acts remain: Girls, Rebecca Ferguson and Cher Lloyd.
One Direction, Mary Byrne and finally Matt Cardle, for the boys.

They each get to sing two songs, a classic and a free choice
Hoping that the British voting public, will appreciate their voice.
I’ve given up trying to call it, just as I do every year
But I can’t wait until next week when the real final is here!

Ode To Leslie Nielsen

When it comes to straight faced comedy, you’d be pushed to find finer
Than the late Leslie Nielsen; the master of classic one-liners.

Born in February 1926, he sadly died yesterday
But he leaves us with the characters he so fabulously portrayed.

A veteran comic actor, he was aged 84
He started out acting seriously but gave us all so much more.

Surely we can’t be serious, but sadly we are;
We won’t call you Shirley, but simply a star!

Deadpan delivery that was timed to a tee
Saw Nielsen transition to the big screen from TV!

So adieu to the actor best known for Airline and The Naked Gun;
The legendary Leslie Nielsen will be remembered by everyone.

X Factor Live Results Show Week 6

Katie Waissel, One Direction and Rebecca Ferguson are declared safe
Matt Cardle, Mary and Wagner are all also guaranteed a place.
This leaves Paije and Cher Lloyd, to face the bottom two this week;
Will one of these two favourites will be the one the judges keep?

Simon Cowell and Cheryl both voted to send home Paije
But Dannii Minogue, as his mentor, voted to keep him on the stage.
Louis Walsh could have skipped the decision and sent it to deadlock
But instead chose to send Paije home, and his little face dropped in shock.

X Factor Live Show Week 6

X Factor Live Show Week 6

It’s Saturday Night, and our regular X Factor treat;
The theme for the contestants is ‘The Beatles’ this week.
Matt Cardle kicked us off, what a fab way to begin
Followed by Cher Lloyd and her rendition of Imagine.

Simon Cowell was not impressed that she’d sang sitting on some stairs
But with Cheryl Cole as her mentor, that didn’t seem to faze Cher.
Simon then introduced to us, his one remaining selection
And ‘All We Need Is Love’ was blasted out by One Direction.

Louis was heard above the crowd, to say they’d raised their game
But Danni was a little less complimentary, defeaned by fans screaming their name.
Even the boys themselves, were struggling to hear the comments that they had
So Dermot read out their number, and we broke for another ad.

Rebecca Ferguson gave us ‘Yesterday’ when it came to her turn
And she was followed by ‘Something’ from the Irish diva, Mary Byrne.
It is a night for big songs, I am sure you’ll agree
And Paije Richardson owned the stage as he gave us ‘Let It Be’.

Wagner was up next to grace the X Factor live show stage
But when it came to his comments, he provoked a bit of Cheryl rage.
He’d been quoted in the papers, talking of her past, as he confessed
But the story had been slightly twisted; he said ‘Don’t believe what you read in the press!’

The final act this Saturday night, gave us ‘Help’ as her prayer
And she’s also undgone a radical change, removing and colouring her hair.
Pixie like, Katie Waissel’s arragement was powerful to say the least
But will it be enough to see her through safely until next week.

Chandlers Freed, Good News Indeed

This morning on Sunrise there was good news indeed
As the Chandlers, taken by pirates, were finally freed.
A ransom had been paid so that they could walk free
After 388 days, held hostage in captivity.

They looked in good spirits as the VT was rolled;
Happy to have liberty, their tale waiting to be told.
It is said that they will be leaving Nairobi later today
So may I wish them a safe journey, as they return to the UK.

Remembrance Sunday Poem

Remember remember, on this day in November
The people who sacrificed their lives.
Dedication unsurpassed, they fought until the last
So that their children, and our nation could survive.

Remember remember, on this day in November
Our minds cast back to the battles that were fought.
Our soldiers were brave, as their mortality they gave
So that we could reap the freedom that they bought.

Remember remember, on this day in November
The sea of poppies that is eternally red.
Waving in the breeze, symbolising endless legacies
Standing proudly in the memory of the dead.
