London 2012 was ‘The Place’ to be
A hive of talent and activity.
We’ve seen them row, we saw them swim
And Britain rose, to compete and win.
From bronze, to silver, to perfect gold
Those medals were given for a nation to hold.
Symbolising hope, and courage, and elation
With athletes so proud to compete for our nation.
And whilst the medals are a glorious plus
We must thank all the athletes who competed for us.
It takes great dedication, and considerable funds
But the dream was chased, and look how well they have done.
And for those without medals, but still on the team
Be proud of yourselves for living the dream.
Your skill is undoubted and this is just the beginning;
Based on spirit alone, Britain’s positively winning!
So here’s my official thanks for Team GB;
I feel proud of you all, and for our country.
You took to the stage, but we were in it together
And now London 2012 will hold that legacy forever.
