Old Songs
Old songs playing on the radio
Reminding me of someone that I used to know.
Words stored for a lifetime, a bassline that moves;
Old songs on the radio, reminding me of you.

Him And I
Him And I
I often sit and wonder
How it happened… him and I.
We could have stayed as strangers,
As ships just passing by.
But something happened to us
And it happened, him and I;
History, once it’s written,
Can never be denied.

A Town You’ve Never Heard Of | Poem
A Town You’ve Never Heard Of
In a town you’ve never heard of
lives a chap you’ll never know.
He heads to work each morning
at a place you’ll never go.
he weaves between more strangers
before he comes to rest
at a corner no-one sees
then he sits down at his desk.
He does work that you won’t care about
and probably, nor does he,
but he dutifully continues
’til the time that he’s set free.
But by that time it’s dark
and he’s got to get back home
for another hurried evening
just sitting all alone,
Suppressing all his hopes & dreams.
He dare not let it show
But in his sleep he dreams about
a town he’ll never know.

I Am What I Am | Poem
I Am What I Am
I am what I am.
I like what I am.

And I do what I can.

How Did I Get Here | Poem
How Did I Get Here
You’re going through the motions,
The days pass in a blur.
Not sure you’re making progress
Though you’re not who you once were.
You then drift a little further
And the days turn into years
And slowly, you’re left wondering
How on earth did I get here?

Doodle | Poem
Doodle
I took my pen.
I drew you out.
I got you wrong.
I rubbed you out.
I honed my craft.
I tried again.
I failed with mice
And then with men
And then with landscapes
Laced with trees.
Where others seemed to draw with ease
My lines were sloppy,
Colours weak,
Your essence greyed,
Left incomplete.

Metamorphosis | Poem
Metamorphosis
I’m tired of waiting, being stuck on the verge.
Done being a caterpillar, I long to emerge
As a beautiful butterfly, flying free in the world;
It’s all that I’ve dreamt of since I was a girl.

Poem About Comparing Yourself | She Is Not Me
She Is Not Me
I can’t rationally compare myself
With any other girl I see
Because I am not her and
She is not me.

Mind Reader | Poem
Mind Reader
Sometimes I like to assume that others can read minds
So when I’m standing there in front of them, saying that I’m fine
That they’d say to me, now really, you don’t have to pretend.
I can see something is bugging you. Come on, tell me, I’m your friend.
But of course they never say that as of course I never said
As I prefer to leave things simmering and multiplying in my head.
