If I had a missing persons list, she’d be right at the top.
If all I had to do was search, I know I would not stop.
If I knew that I could call her, I’d be dialling as we speak;
Instead she’s officially missing, and my life is incomplete.
If only there was a signal, from wherever the energy went
That though she is not with us, there’s no cause for my lament.
If I knew that I would see her, at another point in time
I would surely feel much easier about this missing mum of mine.
But no, there is no contact; just the memories of before.
And where my Mum might be, I cannot say, I am not sure.
Her absence will always be noticed, and we will feel bereft
But then I hear her in my heart saying “I never really left.”
