Stop! This needs discussion;
It’s about the petrol prices.
They’re practically astronomical;
We’re heading towards a crisis.
It doesn’t seem that long ago
A litre was less than a pound.
It’s now somewhere around extortion;
The price we pay to get around.
The local effects are scary
And the national ones greater still
Pretty soon we’ll all need mortgages
To foot our petrol bills.
But seriously, what matters
As the fuel prices soar ever higher,
It’s added pressure to our budgets
When the economy’s already dire.
The cost of goods will have to rise
To factor in the fuel.
Say goodbye to exotic luxuries
And hello to bread and gruel.
We can all make little adjustments
To try to reduce our spends
Perhaps by combining mini journeys,
Accelerating gently, and anticipating the bends.
So try to maximise fuel economy
To minimise the hit to your bank
And drive slowly when visiting the petrol pump;
Brace yourself to fill up your tank!

Converse About The Verse
So tell me how you’re finding it!
Is your wallet starting to hurt?
Cheekily I’ll say ‘I’m alright Jack’;
It’s good not having to drive to work!
The air feels charged with energy,
You know the moment’s near.
Makes intentions felt and clear.
A quickening of your heart beat,
Desire to feel that touch.
Shallow breaths ignite you;
You want this oh so much.
You move a little closer,
Your eyelids semi-closed.
A flutter of your lashes
And your longing is exposed.
And then at last it happens.
Best described as bliss;
An electrical engagement – also known as….
Your first kiss.

Te amo Rihanna, you have the most enviable figure
And with a truly worldwide audience, your fanbase can’t get any bigger!
We’d never be unfaithful to you, as long as you keep producing those hits;
Pon De Replay gave us the first show of your soulful Barbaden hips.
There was no russian roulette involved when you chose what would be your career
As you never fail to give us great new songs and videos, year upon year.
You don’t need to ask “What’s My Name” because everyone knows who you are;
I really don’t hate that I love you, because you are a genuine superstar!
When I listen to your amazing tunes Rihanna, I prefer to do it loud;
Your song list is simply glittering and you have every reason to be proud.
I presume there won’t be an SOS as you don’t need to be saved;
How does it feel, to know that at any given moment, your music is being played?
Does it give you a sense of disturbia, or are you just simply beaming?
I think it must be the latter as I would be dancing upon the ceiling!
I fall under the fan umbrella, which is why I wanted to write this for you;
From Shut Up and Drive to S & M, I love everything that you do!
You’re absolutely gorgeous and bursting at the seams with style
And I hope that on your special day this personal poem will make you smile.
You’re admired by so many people, and looked up to by everyone
So thank you for sharing your talent and your music from the sun.
Take a bow Rihanna – hope it’s the best birthday you’ve ever had
As the whole world sends birthday wishes to our favourite good girl gone bad.
Shining and flickering, an ethereal light;
A dancing green fairy, on the edge of the night.
A flare from the Sun with energy unspent
Plays out as Aurora in her final lament.
Purples and greens light up the Northern sky;
An elegant symphony played out for our eyes.
A mystical wonder, always destined to shine;
A gateway to another world, and perhaps another time.
Dance dear Aurora, like you’ve always shone
Crescendo-ing gaily until the sparkle is gone
And all that remains are the memories of your light;
Sleep well little fairy, until you return one night!

Glamourous presenter, and true yummy Mum
Today Holly Willoughby turns 30 years young.
With a lovely son and partner, and a daughter on the way
You are practically guaranteed to have a marvellous day.
A true natural beauty, with long flowing locks,
Entertaining us each morning, alongside the silver fox
Not even a naked chef could render you disconcerted
And when Gino did his nudey bit, your eyes were well averted.
Now as you wave goodbye to the tender age of 29
Your thirties will be a journey, through which you’ll continue to shine.
With a glittering showbiz career and happy family by your side;
Holly Willoughby, you’re a star, and you should be brimming with pride.
So from all of your followers and This Morning fans galore,
I hope your 30th birthday brings you all you wish and more.
And because it is your birthday, I decree that Britain be jolly
As everybody joins with me to say Happy 30th Birthday Holly!

My thoughts go out today, to a highly regarded lady
As the world sends condolences on the loss of her baby.
A newly budding flower, that was just about to bloom;
A tiny precious soul that was taken away too soon.
Losing a child is something no one should have to bear
And to all those affected, I send my love and prayers.

There are moments in my life that I will remember, because you were there.
There are moments in my life when I feel I need you more than air.
There are moments in my life that I have to tell you how much I care.
And for us, those moments never shall decline.
There were times that I felt my heart could not contain such a feeling.
One tiny glance or touch was enough to set me reeling.
I didn’t just walk on air, I was dancing on the ceiling.
Oh how glad I am to say that you are mine.
For years it will be me and you, and that’s the way it should be
For nobody fits as nicely, as you slot together with me
And with the depth of our love, together we are truly free.
This is absolutely the greatest love of all time.

This is a poem I wrote a couple of years ago, inspired by the tragic story of Ben Kinsella. His sister Brooke has today made progress with her campaign to reduce youth and knife crime.
No More Knife Crime – A Poem
Solid life was shattered
With the twist of a manic blade.
The debt that was created
Could never be repaid.
Extinguished, like a sooty fire
This life stopped in its tracks.
How cowardly could one man be
To stab him in the back.
11 times or more.
This poor soul had done nothing
And now exists no more.
If only he had stayed away
Or been at home that night
Then he woud still be here today;
Not sacrificed for a fight.
The void is like a chasm
With depths unlike any other.
The world is missing a young man
And a girl has lost her brother.
But this fight isn’t over.
The war goes on and on.
Society is twisted
And everything is wrong.
We should all live together
Without the fear of crime.
I hope that it might happen
Within my own lifetime.
If not, then for my children
Let knife crime fail and cease.
Only then will the fight be over
And society shall feel the release.
Free to let our children
Explore this playgroud we’ve created;
Knowing nothing but love and peace.
A victory to be celebrated!
