A Poem About The News | Views On The News

Views On The News

“I cannot read the news,” she said.
It makes me feel quite down.
The propaganda and hateful views
Make the loudest sounds.

Issues raised but left untouched;
The cures which we all hunt.
Nothing seems to matter much
Without a celebrity front.

And not just front, as you well know,
The stuff they choose to share
Involves those with no greater skill
Than an overstuffed derrière.

I don’t know how we make the change
To make good stories stick.
I’m sure the editors will explain
What matters are the clicks.

So I must now vote with my feet.
Perhaps they might take heed.
Whilst women are heralded as pieces of meat
I simply will not read.
